Blazing a trail to greater throughput
Calcarb was capacity constrained: demand for the products grew and they needed help in identifying how the current capacity could be better utilised.

We analysed the operations and identified how to increase throughput by 30% with reduced product lead time. A Knowledge Transfer Partnership has been established with the department of Design Manufacture and Engineering Management at Strathclyde University to use simulation software to model how the new approach would impact on Calcarb's throughput and lead times for future product mixes and demand profiles.
The analysis will be used to create a new shop floor layout and visual scheduling system in a purpose built facility designed to meet the increased demand for Calcarb products.
